An Introduction to Feather and Blade
Who are we?
Feather & Blade is a premier cosmetic tattoo brow parlor located both in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky. Created by Holly Meredith, Feather & Blade first opened our doors in Lexington in 2016. Our Lexington studio is located at 332 North Ashland Ave in the Warehouse Block. We have since expanded Feather & Blade to Louisville, located between the eclectic Highlands and the historic Germantown neighborhood at 1356 Ellison Ave. We offer a variety of cosmetic tattoo services, including microblading, lip blushing, faux freckles, and areola regimentation. Our team of professionally trained artists specialize in hair-stroke and machine-shaded brows.
What is microblading, you may ask?
Microblading is a technique within cosmetic tattooing. It is a permanent make-up procedure that creates life-like hair-strokes on your brow area. This is done by inserting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. The artist uses a small handheld blade to create the strokes.
After clients receive their 6-week perfecting appointment, cosmetic tattoos usually only require an annual touch-up to stay looking fresh! Microblading can also be referred to as brow feathering or hair-stroke tattooing. Candidates for microblading must have little sun damage, a dry skin type, and firm skin. If you are interested in cosmetic tattooing but do not meet these qualifications, machine shading may be the route for you.
Bespoke Brows
Our most common client treatment. What are Bespoke Brows? Our artists create your brow strand-by-strand using lifelike strokes applied directly onto the skin, using microblading, machine hair-stroke, and shading techniques best suited for each client's face. The treatment assures perfectly shaped and balanced brows. The initial treatment takes about two hours, with enough time to assess each step of the way.
Once the artist determines which technique (or combination) will work best with the clientβs skin type and brow structure, the session can begin. A typical brow appointment begins with topical numbing cream. Then, your brow hair grade and color are analyzed by your chosen artist. The artist will then draw on your desired brows with a specialized pencil. We will create a symmetrical, natural-looking brow that is custom-made for your bone structure, giving you the chance to see how dramatically new brows can enhance your face. Once the client is satisfied with the shape and thickness, they are consulted on color.
