What is Lip Blushing
Lip Blushing is a form of cosmetic tattoo performed by certified artists at Feather & Blade. In short, a small machine that resembles a pen is used to gently deposit pixels of ink into the skin to create a natural lip tint in a more defined, full shape with natural soft colors. While this procedure does not entirely replace lipstick, it will give your lips a tint and can correct slight asymmetry.
Generally, Lip Blushing can last a couple of years but could be longer or shorter depending on your lifestyle and adherence to aftercare instructions. Prolonged sun exposure and smoking can speed up the fading process.
Recovery
Recovery after lip blushing is super easy. We see that our clients return to normal activities immediately, with about 1 day of swelling and 4 to 5 days of total healing time. Your lip color may appear uneven at different healing stages, so be patient. Post-tattoo appointment, you can expect the color to lighten up to 50%, once the healing process is complete.
Touchups
Most clients come for touch-ups once every 12 to 18 months.
Who can get Lip Blushing?
If you have dark areas on your lips (i.e. hyperpigmentation) they will need to be neutralized before you can have Lip Blushing done. Dark pigmentation neutralization is not something we offer at Feather & Blade yet. Clients who have had lip filler are eligible for Lip Blushing, as long as the lip filler procedure was done a month prior.
It is worth noting - If you have a history of cold sores, the procedure can trigger an outbreak. Prescribed antiviral medication should be taken in advance of the appointment. If you have any skin or medical conditions, especially if it's related to your lips, you should always inform the artist.
